Learning a foreign language, according to research, can help you address issues more critically, focus more intently, and even keep your mind sharp as you become older. Aside from that, learning foreign languages has the practical advantages of being able to communicate with more people and travel more broadly in business and in life.

While there are many advantages to studying a foreign language, it is also true that mastering it takes a lot of effort. It's definitely possible to enrol yourself in Thai language lessons for years without developing mastery or fluency unless you are a natural polyglot or there is a real need to study the language in a short time.

So how would you be able to learn a foreign language effectively? When learning a foreign language, especially those with very distinct syntax and grammar rules, you can follow these three tricks to help you out.

Learn the words gradually.

The thing with taking a course such as a Mandarin language course is that you are being dependent on the lessons being taught in the centre. While the course structure is built to help you learn the language step by step, a little boost will do wonders with your fluency. Start off with familiarizing yourself with the common words in the language you are learning. Do an exercise every day wherein you’ll recite 30 words and their meanings. This will not only help you increase your vocabulary but will also help sharpen your mind without being taxing.

Practice the language during intrapersonal communication

Most learners tend to get a hard time learning a foreign language due to having no one to talk to using it. While it is true that practising the language in a spoken manner can help you remember the words and improve your fluency, talking inside your head does have the same effect. Since we tend to use intrapersonal communication very often, you can try thinking using the foreign language you are trying to learn. This is also a convenient way to practice as there will be no audience to give you the jitters.

Opt for a personal language tutor

A one-on-one lesson on a foreign language can be better in quick learning as compared to a whole class or through watching video blogs. Enrolling yourself in a one-on-one Thai language course, for instance, can help you focus more on the lessons. Addressing your learning difficulties and applying the necessary adjustment will not be difficult as well for your tutor.
